Sciacchetra' (Pronounced shock-eh-trah) is probably one of the most rare of all Italian wines. Made by Riccardo Arrigoni in what must undoubtedly be the most enchanting vine growing area of Italy. Cinque Terre (five lands) named after the five fishing villages nestled into inlets along the coast northwest of La Spezia. Until prior to World War II, these villages were accessible only by foot or by boat. The vineyards have been carved out of the rock and the soil has been transported to the steep terraces over the years.

85% raisined Bosco grapes, 15% Albarola and Vermentino grapes. After harvest, the grapes are left to dry on mats (similar to Vinsanto
). Drying concentrates the sugars in the grapes. Soft-pressing of the grapes followed by traditional fermentation in stainless steel at controlled temperatures. After fermentation it is matured and refined in high quality small wooden casks for at least one year. We mature and refine our Sciacchetra' for at least two or three years, depending on the singular characteristics of each harvest. In the local dialect, the word "sciacchetra'" means "press it and forget about it". The wine has golden yellow color. Rich and spicy, with fragrant aroma of exotic fruits. It has an opulent and elegant texture. On the palate, it shows flavors of ripe mango, apricot, and peaches. The finish has a hint of almond blossoms. Its complexity increases with age. A rare treat. Tanti saluti!
