2016 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico


A blend of 50% Corvina, 45% Corvinone and 5% Rondinella, matured in new barriques for about 18 months; bottle aging for 14 months. Medium-intense ruby red; aromas of black plum, medicinal herbs and sour cherry preserves. Medium-full with ripe black fruit backed by good acidity and medium-full tannins that are a bit aggressive now; the oak notes are evident but not overpowering. This needs several years to lose its rough edges; peak in 10-12 years.
