Terroir Sense Wine Review
2016 Montefalco Sagrantino
Good full ruby. Aromas and flavours of ripe plum, mocha, flint and violet, complicated by hints of mocha and flint. Then luscious dense and juicy, with pretty acidity and cool tannins nicely framing the plush flavours of smoky plums and forest floor on the long close. This estate is always a sure bet when it comes to its Sagrantino wines; and though I haven’t tried it this year, their Passsito is usually very good too. Drinking window: 2023-2028.
